Improving Health Communications in WNC since 2019

WNC Health Network’s Communications Team works to improve how public health communicators in western North Carolina provide essential health and safety information to their residents.

We know that we are stronger, smarter, and more effective when we work together. That belief drives our approach to building innovative, collaborative public health communications. Through our work, we strengthen regional capacity, streamline collective campaigns, and equip communicators with the tools and resources they need to make a lasting impact on the health of their communities.

The WNC Health Communicators Collaborative is a group of public health communicators from the westernmost 18 counties of North Carolina + EBCI, working together to build communications capacity, expertise, and infrastructure.

Facilitated and organized by WNC Health Network, this group of public health professionals includes representatives from local government, community based organizations, hospitals, federally qualified health centers, universities, and more. Together, we support regional preparedness, health promotion, resource sharing, educational opportunities, capacity connection, streamlined systems of communication, and most importantly, relationship building.

Collaborative Campaigns

One of the key outputs of the WNC Health Communicators Collaborative is our regional health communications campaigns, created in direct response to the evolving issues our communities face. These campaigns are deeply collaborative from start to finish, grounded in local data, community voice, and shared messaging strategies.

We work together across counties and organizations to plan, listen, and co-create content that reflects the realities of Western North Carolina.
