5-2-1 Almost None

5-2-1Almost None is a common message and aligning framework adopted by a wide-range of individuals and organizations across western North Carolina who want to promote habits that support healthy weight for children and families:

  • 5 servings of fruits and vegetables/day 
  • 2 hours or less of screen time/day 
  • 1 hour of physical activity/day 
  • Almost None sugary beverages/day

The message was developed within the WNC Healthy Kids initiative.

5-2-1 Almost None adds value by sharing best practices with others who wish to promote healthy weight in children and families. The 5-2-1 Almost None website is the communication hub for the initiative, providing healthy living tips, recipes, and activities that can make it easier for kids and families to practice these health habits and get involved where they live, work, play, or pray.  Additionally, the website houses materials developed for groups such as preschool teachers, employers, and healthcare providers to promote health habits.  Local programs that support the 5-2-1 Almost None message can connect to the website and adapt the logo and materials for their own use. 

WNC Health Network continues to support communities interested in aligning their healthy living efforts with the 5-2-1 Almost None common message by maintaining the 5-2-1 Almost None website and connecting communities to existing resources (i.e. print materials, implementation guides, social media campaign, etc.).
